And it’s right here on Pitchfork advance. What’s it like? Not as immediately engaging as Deathconsciousness but still pretty cinematic in scope. Never would’ve labeled Deathconsciousness ambient as its pretty hook-heavy in parts, and lively in bass and percussion, but The Unnatural World‘s a bit more fitting for that appelation.

If you only heard one song on this list, make it “Eggs at Night.” It’s John Dwyer of Thee Oh Sees playing with drum machines and synthesizers, to heartbreaking and oddly danceable effect. I can’t even, I just . . .

A Godspeed You! Black Emperor side project, with much more freneticism and shouting in the streets than you’d expect from such a thing.

Suddenly the rubiks cube’s squares turn to rubber, to rubber lips, turns to you, and speaks in synths.

The last time I saw Liars was at a mini-festival called Culture Collide. They were playing in a headliners’ timeslot, but judging from the ridiculously small crowd, I’m guessing they were more that weird band at the end of the night that you can see if you’re not into the actual headliner.
